So here is the short Story. Purchased a 2007 STI on ebay from the original owner 3 hours away in KY. Had records, pristine condition, and nice clean mods. Owner is airline pilot and garage was evidence of his OCD personality.
Purchased car 5 months ago with 82,000 miles.
Car drove, pulled great, no codes, and clean log (Cobb AP).
drove for 1000k miles with no issues
Drove car home changed oil & filter with Mobil 1 5w 30, new plugs, cleaned air filter.
200 miles later car starts missing (no flogging or abuse). Just normal spirited driving
Swapped coils, plugs and code/misfire continued on Cylinder #2. Took to subaru of dayton - 12 psi on #2 cylinder.
Towed car to Turnin Concepts for some rehab. Upon tear down exhaust valve had burt hole in it.
They put in a new OEM short block and rebuilt heads.
Car now has 85,000 miles and I've learned that Mobil 1 sucks (PO ran exclusively). Car drives great and looking forward to many more years of fun hopefully without any more trips to Turnin Concepts except for tuning and mods.
